It’s a normal thing to hear Christmas carols played in malls even on the 1st of September. That’s how early Filipinos celebrate christmas. Call it capitalism on the season but I think it’s a way of showing we are a happy bunch of people looking for excuses to celebrate. The christmas season starts in september, when the wind slowly becomes cooler and is heightened 9 days before with the celebration of Simbang Gabi(translates into “Night mass”but is actually celebrated during dawn). Along with it comes an array of delicous snacks such as puto bumbong and tsokolate.
This is just one of the many parts of being Filipino that I can say is truly and definitely Pinoy. 🙂
